DAY 1 – DEPART THE UK
Leave the UK.
DAY 2 – HORATHAPOLA
Your private guide will meet you when you arrive at Colombo and transfer you to your first hotel – the gorgeous Horathapola Coconut Estate.
DAY 3 – HORATHAPOLA
Enjoy a full day at leisure at Horathapola. You can take a tour of the hotel’s working coconut planation and beautiful tropical garden, or a bullock cart ride around the local village with a member of staff. Or, you can simply relax by the pool or in the gardens.
DAY 4 – CULTURAL TRIANGLE
Today you will drive through the countryside to the region known as the Cultural Triangle. You’ll check in to your next hotel, and spend the rest of the day at leisure.
DAY 5 – CULTURAL TRIANGLE
With your private guide, you will first visit the ancient city of Polonnaruwa and explore the ruins and ancient art work. After lunch you will then visit one of Sri Lanka’s national parks to take in the beautiful scenery and see plenty of wildlife – including Sri Lankan elephants.
DAY 6 – CULTURAL TRIANGLE
Rise early this morning and climb the mysterious Sigiriya Rock and marvel at the rock fortress built on top. The views over the Sri Lankan countryside from here are simply breath taking. After the climb you will take a 20 minute bullock cart through the paddy fields surrounding Sigiriya and visit a small, local village.
DAY 7 – ROSYTH ESTATE
Drive from the Cultural Triangle to Kegalle, a town close to Kandy and the lush tea country region. You’ll check in to Rosyth Estate and spend the rest of the day at leisure.
DAY 8 – KANDY FROM ROSYTH ESTATE
This morning you drive to Kandy, home to one of the most revered monuments in the Buddhist world, the famed Temple of the Tooth. You’ll also have the chance to visit Kandy’s beautiful botanical gardens and the Kandy Garrison Cemetery, before taking a scenic train ride to Polgahawela, to enjoy the captivating landscapes of the hill country.
DAY 9 – ROSYTH ESTATE
Enjoy a day at leisure today. You can relax by the pool or explore the working tea and rubber estate that the hotel is built on. There are also hiking and biking trails and a small waterfall nearby.
DAY 10 &11 COLOMBO
Transfer to Colombo this morning, Sri Lanka’s up-and-coming capital city. You’ll be staying at a beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of the city. Explore the undiscovered corners of Colombo on a Colombo City Walk. Led by Mark Forbes, a local history, photography and architecture expert, you will discover the secrets of Colombo’s past and enjoy a drink looking over the city docks.
DAY 12 – FLY TO THE MALDIVES
Transfer to the airport and take a short flight to Male, the capital city of the Maldives. From here you will transfer to your speedboat and cruise to Makunudu, your home for the next four nights.
DAYS 13, 14 AND 15 – THE MALDIVES
Enjoy three full days at leisure relaxing in the Maldives.
DAY 16 – FLY HOME
Transfer to Male airport by speedboat to catch your flight home.
